No sound from DOS application due to IRQ setting not supported
Cause:
IRQ setting is not supported by program or game.
Solution:
Some games do not support an IRQ setting above a certain number (usually 9). Check the documentation that came with the DOS program or game, and check the sound card IRQ setting in the computer.
To check the IRQ setting:
1) Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu.
2) Select 'Settings' and select 'Control Panel'.

3) Double-click the 'System' icon.

4) Click the 'Device Manager' tab.
5) Double-click on 'Sound, video and game controllers'.

6) Double-click on the sound card listed .
7) Click the 'Resources' tab.
Note the Interrupt Request number assigned to the sound card. See if this number is higher than the highest IRQ number suggested by the documentation.
8) Click 'Cancel'.
9) Make sure that 'Interrupt request (IRQ)' is selected.
10) Double-click on 'Computer'.

11) Check the list showing the IRQ number assigned to each device on your computer. Determine an IRQ number that is not being used by another device that may be lower than recommended.

12) Click 'Cancel'.
13) Double-click on the sound card again.
14) Click the 'Resources' tab again.
15) If 'Use automatic settings' is selected, clear it.

16) In the 'Resource Listings' box, double-click on 'Interrupt Request'.

17) In the 'Value' box, type the IRQ number you wish to set for the sound card.

18) Click 'OK' from each dialog box until you return to the 'Control Panel'.
